Once a small kitten, baby Corn now steals hearts as a loving foster dad
In an ideal world, all animals would have grown up to know warmth, safety, and love. Unfortunately, many pets are still waiting for their turn. What keeps hope alive are foster parents, both human and otherwise, who step in when it really matters. Such a foster parent is a rescue cat named Baby Corn, whose story is melting hearts for all the right reasons.
Baby Corn is no ordinary rescue. As a special needs cat who was initially the smallest of his littermates, Baby Corn never seemed like he was destined to become a parental figure. Yet life had other plans. When a group of kittens without a mother entered the foster home with Baby Corn, he went into parental mode and became a source of comfort, warmth, and guidance for those kittens who needed it most.
His foster mom, Christine, who shares updates on Corn’s journey through her Twitter account (@whiskstowhiskers), has not only seen Corn go from being weak as a kitten to being a trustworthy caregiver, but has also allowed animal lovers on social media to observe Corn’s affection with the orphaned kittens, proving to be an inspiring sight for many.
Though young himself, Corn appeared to understand precisely what the babies required. His caring attitude and calm disposition helped provide the stability they lacked and prepare them for a better future.
Nowadays, Corn weighs approximately 3.3 pounds, a huge milestone since in the beginning, he weighed just less than half a pound. Though he has grown as a puppy, Corn has retained the same sweet disposition that first made him win the hearts of people.
Thanks to Corn’s dedication, the kittens are now healthy, confident, and ready to find new homes of their own. The kittens are currently adoptable through Meow Parlour, described as a nonprofit rescue as well as NYC’s first cat café.
Baby Corn’s story shows us that family is not necessarily the biological type and that the unlikeliest of heroes sometimes teach us the true meaning of love.
