A wholesome post shared on Reddit has gone viral after a user showed how quickly a rescued dog transformed after finding a new home. The user, Xamlax, shared several pictures of a dog, that they adopted with the caption, “when we first adopted her vs 24 hours later,” and the contrast between the dog’s facial expressions touched the hearts of many.

In the first picture, the dog seemed nervous and sad, as if it was still not sure of its surroundings. However, in the second picture taken just a day after, the dog looked completely relaxed and comfortable, lying down as if it had finally realized that it was safe. The post quickly went viral, with many saying that this is a common occurrence for rescue pets.

One of the users, who claimed to volunteer at a shelter, shared their experience with the dog in the comments section. They said, “I volunteer at a shelter, and I see our dogs when they’re anxious, stressed, and not always at their best. I look forward to seeing pics of them when they’re home. My favorite pics are of them snuggled up on the couch, ZONKED out, just relaxing.” This comment will surely relate to many people who have adopted pets previously.

Another user claimed that some of the dog’s behaviors, as depicted in the images, could have been because she was still getting used to her new environment. They said, “Thanks for giving her a home! I will point out since no one has, rolling over to show their belly does not always mean they want you to touch them or that they trust you. It’s appeasement behavior, and that’s what they do when they’re not sure of a situation, or nervous, as a way of diffusing the tension without conflict. Especially with her tail tucked in like that.”

In response to this, the original poster agreed and further added how the behavior of the dog had changed later. The user responded with, “Yeah the ones with her tail tucked were right when she started doing that so that makes sense. However now all she does is lay on top of you with her belly out and will literally move your hand with her paw to scratch her lmao.”

The wholesome conversation continued as another user commented with a joke about how quickly pets take over the house when they feel at home. The user wrote, “I see she can judge the character of good people quickly! May you have many years of joy and love together. Has she taken over the people bed yet?”

The dog’s owner replied with an update saying, “Thank you!! We’re keeping her mainly in the living room area right now and slowly letting her into more rooms so she hasn’t made it that far yet.”

The post has warmed the hearts of many online users who say it perfectly portrays what love, patience, and a safe environment can do to completely transform a rescue dog’s life in a very short period.
