She mentioned how her pets have taught her not to take herself so seriously and to expect less so that she doesn't get disappointed. "Expect less, stress less, sleep more. Sleep and life's all good," she shared, highlighting how something as basic as proper rest can make a world of difference.

At its core, this frame of mind can be traced back to the notion of emotional detachment. It should be noted that the idea of detachment has been linked with the maintenance of one’s own peace of mind. Experts claim that detachment can positively prevent undue emotional upsets.

Dr. Riya Singh, a psychologist who specializes in workplace stress and emotional intelligence, said that there is a lot of misunderstanding surrounding emotional detachment. She said, "It does not mean being indifferent or insensitizing. Sometimes, emotional detachment can actually serve as a coping mechanism for individuals who face immense pressures in their careers, helping them stay focused and immune to manipulations."

Similarly, Sonal Khangarot, a licensed rehabilitation counsellor and psychotherapist at The Answer Room, noted of this variable, “Research has shown that maintaining a level of detachment in high-pressure environments can actually decrease levels of cortisol, the hormone related to stress. Therefore, decreased stress levels result in clearer thinking, better decisions, and less chance of burnout.”

Experts maintain that emotional uninvolved behavior is also evidence of emotional intelligence. Emotional uninvolved behavior would allow people to respond instead of reacting impulsively to circumstances, particularly when dealing with competitive or politically charged environments at the workplace. For someone like Alia, emotional uninvolved behavior would allow her to focus on her acting career and production endeavors without getting involved in distractions.

Nevertheless, professionals caution against the risk of detaching turning into isolation. Khangarot stressed the point that individuals need to maintain appropriate relations with their families, friends, and mentors outside their professional environments while remaining composed within their professional lives. Finding an appropriate balance between empathy, connections, and resilience is therefore important.

Alia’s observations, influenced by her pets, are a gentle reminder that perhaps some of the clearest and easiest-to-learn lessons can be found in the simplest and uncomplicated thoughts: rest well, expect little, and don’t overthink things.
