A few weeks ago, popular content creator Kawal Chhabra shared a video that quietly reminded the internet what real kindness looks like. No filters. No background music. Just an 80-year-old man on a footpath, surrounded by dogs, doing what he has done every single day - feeding them, sheltering them, and loving them like family.

In the video, Chhabra introduces him simply as “Babaji”.

Babaji has no house of his own. He lives on the roadside near Ludhiana’s Gurunanak Stadium square. And yet, he takes care of nearly 20 stray dogs - arranging food for them, making space for them to sleep, and protecting them from the cold nights.

As Chhabra films the scene, his voice breaks with emotion.

“We struggle to take care of ourselves,” he says in Hindi. “And look at this Babaji. He lives on the footpath, yet he is raising all these kids.”

He points to the dogs curled up beside Babaji, some resting inside makeshift shelters he has created with whatever he can find.

“He himself sleeps outside,” Chhabra continues, “and he has made a place for them inside. When winter comes, they will come here to stay warm. Now tell me - which God are you searching for? This is our God.”

The words hit hard.

Here is a man with almost nothing to his name, choosing to give whatever he has to those who cannot ask for help.

Chhabra calls out to animal lovers and passers-by, urging them to come and support Babaji instead of only posting about compassion online. “If you truly love dogs,” he says, “come here and look after these children.”

Since the video went viral, many viewers have been left deeply moved. Messages of admiration and respect poured in, with people calling Babaji a living example of humanity at its purest.

In a world where kindness often comes with cameras and captions, Babaji’s life tells a quieter, more powerful story. No speeches. No recognition. Just an old man on a footpath, feeding hungry mouths, keeping small bodies warm, and proving that sometimes, the truest form of God walks beside us - barefoot, unnoticed, and endlessly generous.
