The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has enforced a 2025 pet safety regulation banning dog breeds Rottweiler, American Bulldog, Pitbull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, and Neapolitan Mastiff. These breeds were classified as dangerous due to their powerful build, aggressive tendencies, and rising cases of dog attacks in urban areas. The new law aims to enhance citizen safety and ensure responsible pet ownership. Along with the ban, Chandigarh has made dog registration, microchipping, vaccination updates, and the use of muzzles for large breeds mandatory. The regulation reflects the city’s attempt to balance public safety with animal welfare while addressing growing concerns over pet-related incidents.
The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (CMC) has declared a ban on six dog breeds by considering and declaring them as a threat and dangerous or very aggressive in their nature and by 2025 pet safety regulation they banned them the decision of ban on them is made because of their increasing attacks and for public safety.
